Anti Guilds agree to boycott Battle Vortex Forum

 
Well I took some time to think before posting this news. I spent some time reading the posts of some whom felt the boycott was unfair. While I pride myself on being objective, even after reading their posts I still felt the boycott was the right thing to do. KGB and DL are the other 2 major guilds to strongly oppose GC. They too felt a boycott was unavoidable. This means 3 of Sieges top 10 guilds have immediatly chosen to boycott. More may follow. So I ask myself why? After going through a few very specific reasons I decided that those reasons were arguable. So I again was left with the question of why.

Then I realized the reason and feeling I was having was very simple. The Guardians Chosen (GC) are without a doubt the worst guild to join SP short of SUN who of course were all banned for duping. This is not a personal opinion, this is clear by reading most any forum about Siege Perilous. While I do not put GC in the same category as SUN (duping on that scale is unthinkable), they are without question seen as the top grief guild on Siege. They are one of the few if not the only guild on siege to be outcast by the community at large. On their own message board, they banned the IP’s of anyone who disagreed with their UO political views. Of course that includes all BiH members and most of our allies. This was not a ban for flaming or insulting. It was just for posting opposing views.

BV War was gaining a reputation for the Siege Community’s message forum. Now we have a member of a guild that is outcast by the community named as the moderator for the communities message forum? This decision by Battle Vortex is clearly a mistake. However once a mistake like this is made, it is hard to admit to and reverse, so sadly it is not likely to change despite it’s affect on Siege BV patrons.

I don't think the job he will personally do, as moderator is the real issue. It's easy for people to trip over that, but it's truly not the issue. Although I do feel his objectivity is clearly in question. How can a person who has supported such behavior since the shard inception be reasonably expected to be moderator of that behavior now? Easy answer, he can’t be.

However let’s assume his views have changed despite the fact that he continues to support and be a part of that group. The fact remains that a board moderated by a GC member is clearly a GC friendly board. GC friendly means heavy patronage by GC members eager to voice their opinions in a forum moderated by one of their own. The average GC poster routinely engages in flames, and OOC attacks. This again is not my opinion one need only log onto www.thecabal.net and read the news, then move onto the public message forum. The news post on this subject is very tame, however I urge you to scroll down to previous news postings.

Therefore the naming of a GC member as moderator can only have the affect of increasing the flames/OOC attacks, and increasing them particularly in the direction of those who oppose GC's views or play style. The content of the forum was borderline in terms of value to flames ratio before this appointment. It can now only be expected to get worse.

We in BiH and many of our allies therefore take the option of finding another forum for our shard community and War politics, that assigns forum moderators that properly represent and support the maturity of the Siege Perilous PvP community.

In the meantime, we will continue to kill our enemies each time they dare come out of their houses.
